Thailand Grand Tour

November 2012    or    February 2013

Grand Tour 2007This is the original Experience Adventure Tour and still remains our most popular.  Our adventure begins in the magnificent city of Bangkok with shopping on Khoa San Road, one of Bangkok’s prominent shopping areas.  Khoa San Road is known for the many travelers from around the world coming to shop and enjoy the limitless activities at all hours of the day and night.  We stay in a guest house that is nestled just off the busy street of Khoa San Road and behind Wat Chana (Thai Temples are called Wat).  The guest house has an open air restaurant with local and American food, a travel agency and a small quiet garden area for meditation and taking time to acclimate to your new surroundings.  There is plenty to see, smell and hear just sitting at a restaurant watching, but if you feel like shopping or stopping in to get a Thai massage, well, let’s just say you’re in paradise!

The next morning after we leisurely enjoy our breakfast, we take a tour of the magnificent Grand Royal Palace.  Following the Grand Palace Tour, we take a scenic boat ride along the Chao Praya River.  That evening we sleep on the mystical night train to the northern city of Chiang Mai.  The train will make stops throughout the evening and next morning allowing you to take in the small villages along the lush green Thai countryside.

Upon arriving in Chiang Mai at our hotel, we’ll have the afternoon and evening to settle in and get to know your surroundings again.  Day 2 in Chiang Mai will be spent visiting an elephant reserve during which you will be able to feed, bathe and touch these amazing creatures.  That evening you will have to yourself to explore and digest your next destination.  The following day we will travel an hour or so to the northern areas in Chiang Rai.  We will visit a local market and then travel on to visit different Hill Tribe Villages.  We will walk approximately 2.5 hours to a small village and spend the afternoon visiting the locals there.  After an amazing meal prepared by our guide, Map, we’ll be entertained by the children in the village.  They will sing and dance around the fire and they will want YOU to join in too!  We sleep that evening in a bamboo hut elevated above the ground, listening to the night animals and sounds.  The morning after that, we will be escorted from the village on elephant back, slowing meandering through the northern jungles of the Chiang Rai Province.  We then will enjoy a slow bamboo raft ride down the river and then move on to the Buddha cave.  After the Buddha cave, we will stop by for a visit to an amazing orchid farm and to take photos and enjoy the surroundings of these amazing flowers. We arrive back in Chiang Mai for dinner and then the evening is open to do whatever you like.

The following day we will fly to Koh Samui for the last leg of our journey.  In Samui, we will stay on Lamai Beach.  Lamai Beach is a short drive south from the very touristy Chawang Beach.  You will still have the pleasures of shopping and amazing restaurants, but it is much less hectic.  During the island time you are on your own to explore and spend your time as you like.  There are many things to do including hikes to waterfalls, bike riding, horseback riding, zip lining, island hopping and snorkeling.  But, if you would just rather lay pool and ocean side, relaxing and reading a book or spend your time getting a massage on the beach, there is plenty of that as well.  We don’t call it the Grand Adventure for nothing!  There is nothing more Grand than this Experience Adventure Tour.
